The key scenic spots in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, received 11.35 million tourist visits from January to September, representing a 93.79-percent surge year-on-year.

Their ticket revenue reached 336 million yuan ($46.10 million), marking annualized growth of 49.92 percent, while their tourism revenue was around 478 million yuan, reflecting a year-on-year rise of 44.1 percent.

Over the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday from Oct 29 to Oct 6, in particular, major scenic spots, parks, tourist leisure districts, and nighttime cultural and tourist consumption areas in the city welcomed 6.10 million visits, a remarkable 384-percent increase from the same period in 2022.

To enhance its visibility, Taiyuan has been developing a tourism brand system and exploring ways of interlinking cultural and tourism resources to showcase the city's charms. More than 50 themed travel routes have been launched on special occasions such as the Spring Festival, May Day, and Children's Day.

Meanwhile, the city has organized four tourism promotion and investment events in Hangzhou, Beijing, and Shenzhen, inviting cultural and tourism enterprises from local counties and districts to participate. Along with the Shanxi Department of Culture and Tourism, it has also organized activities in Nanjing and Guangzhou promoting tourism.

The Taiyuan bureau of culture and tourism announced that the city is accelerating the formulation of a comprehensive tourism development plan and the construction of 5A-rated tourist attractions like Jinci Temple and Tianlong Mountain, while also making the experience more convenient for tourists, and adding a broader variety of cultural and tourism products.
