"I find traditional carpentry amazingly interesting. Chinese culture is really extensive and deep. I'm eager to share it with my friends," said an international student from Zimbabwe during an intangible cultural heritage (ICH) tour in Yantai's Muping district.

The ICH tour was attended by 11 international students. They were impressed by a variety of traditional Chinese carpentry tools and traditional rural houses with Jiaodong characteristics. They also got hands-on carpentry practice, making small stools with mortise and tenon joints and disassembling the Lu Ban lock, which was invented by the legendary ancient Chinese carpenter Lu Ban and based on mortise and tenon joints. Each piece of the puzzle is interconnected without fasteners and players have to unlock it and put the pieces back together.

"Yantai's ICH items are well-preserved, and I've learned a lot during this amazing trip," said Bashir from Afghanistan.
