China's shipbuilding remained world-leading in first three quarters

China's shipbuilding market share remained the world's leading during the past three quarters of this year, according to the indicators revealed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Thursday.

The country's shipbuilding output reached 30.74 million deadweight tons from January to September, an increase of 10.6 percent year-on-year.

New orders were 57.34 million DWT as of the end of September, up 76.7 percent year-on-year; hand-held orders were 133.93 million DWT, an increase of 30.6 percent year-on-year.

The three indicators are ranked first in the world and continue to lead the industry, and China's shipbuilding market share remains the world's leading as well.

From January to September this year, China's shipbuilding output, new orders, hand-held orders accounted for 48.7 percent, 68.5 percent, 54.7 percent of the global total in terms of deadweight tons respectively, and 46.0 percent, 63.5 percent and 50.2 percent in terms of revised total tons, ranking first in the world.

The concentration of the shipbuilding industry remained at a high level, with the top 10 enterprises in shipbuilding output accounting for 64.3 percent of the country, the top 10 enterprises in new orders accounting for 62.5 percent of the country, and the top 10 enterprises in hand-held orders accounting for 61.2 percent of the country.
