The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has signed deals to secure the coal supply in the region for this winter and next spring.

According to the agreement, Ordos will supply 7.65 million metric tons of coal for seven cities and leagues with the jurisdiction of Inner Mongolia, including Hohhot, Baotou, Ulaanqab and Hinggan League.

For local use, Ordos will supply itself with 3.68 million tons of coal in total.

Coal is currently being transported to make sure it arrives on time.

Ordos is one of 14 large-scale coal bases and one of nine coal power bases and four modern coal chemical industry demonstration areas set up by the country.

The city has proven coal reserves of 210.2 billion metric tons, accounting for about one sixth of the country's total, and possesses proven natural gas reserves of nearly 5 trillion cubic meters, accounting for one third of the country's total.
