As the leading national place to develop the internet of vehicles, Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has been dedicated to the development and application of IoV technologies.

In 2018, the city launched the first phase of a C-V2X city-level demonstration and application project, and established the national intelligent transportation testing base.

The second phase (2020-22) focuses on the industrialization of IoV high-end equipment and intelligent software companies and the third phase (starting in 2023) highlights commercial services themed on automobile culture.

Since 2019, the IoV and intelligent connected vehicles industries have experienced rapid development in Wuxi. Currently, the city is home to 198 related businesses, and in 2022 the core IoV and ICVs industries were valued at 35.1 billion yuan ($4.82 billion).

Wuxi has completed the upgrading and transformation of 2,368 crossings and arranged a combined 147.1 square kilometers of roads for driverless driving testing. It has also launched 11 routes, along which 61 automatic buses are operating. As of now, these buses have delivered 35,230 scheduled trips.

The city's districts have their own focus on developing IoV and ICVs. Xinwu district highlights automotive-grade chips and sensors, Xishan district is good at offering comprehensive solutions, while Binhu and Wuxi Economic Development District are experienced in software and algorithms.
