Masahiko Suga, director and president of the Japan-based Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (China), came to Pudong in 1997, when Pudong was in its early stages of development and openness, but it had already shown its formidable vitality. In 2007, the company established its independent subsidiary in Pudong, taking its first step in the area. In 2020, its regional headquarters was established in Shanghai, taking just 6 months from preparation to registration.
