Yangzhou sees travel boom over double holiday

Fifty-six A-level scenic attractions and 12 key villages for rural tourism in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province received 3.98 million tourists during the just-concluded combined Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, a year-on-year increase of 221 percent, according to authorities.

Nine activities revolving around city walking, folk customs, family fun, idyllic sightseeing, and art performances were held during the holiday.

More than 200 folk art performances including Yangzhou ditty and Yangzhou Opera were staged at the city's 10 theaters, attracting 35,000 visitors.

Authorities have also dispatched more than 1,200 volunteers at major scenic spots and railway stations to offer help to tourists.
