Taizhou city – in East China's Jiangsu province – recently released an implementation plan for making breakthroughs in the core technologies of its key industries, according to the local science and technology bureau.

The bureau signed a cooperation agreement with the municipal and provincial research institutes of industrial technology. That's to support key projects by setting up a 30 million yuan ($4.1 million) pool of funds at a 1:1:1 ratio.

Under the plan, qualifying projects – in the major industries of health, marine equipment and high-tech ships, auto parts and precision manufacturing, chemicals and new materials, as well as photovoltaic and lithium batteries – can receive funding of up to 30 percent of the actual payment amount of a contract, or up to 3 million yuan.

The bureau will invite experts in industrial technology to conduct a regular field survey of companies from those industries, identify their technical bottlenecks and to clarify the top priority list for making breakthroughs in core technologies.

Bureau official Ma Yangyang said that all the measures reflected a demand-oriented principle targeting enterprises.

The list will be unveiled on provincial and national platforms – in a bid to  seek the best solutions for resolving bottlenecks globally and making achievements in core technologies in key fields.
