A Boeing 777 cargo plane carrying 52.38 metric tons of Chilean salmon from Santiago, the capital of Chile, recently arrived in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, after a stopover in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.

The route, known as the "Xiamen-Sao Paulo (Brazil)-Chile-Xiamen", is the first BRICS air cargo route in Xiamen. With the arrival of this flight, the total import volume of Chilean salmon in Xiamen this year has exceeded 2,900 tons.

The inauguration of Xiamen's first BRICS air cargo route aims to create a safe and stable salmon supply chain, striving to get "from sea to table" in the shortest possible time through cold-chain transport and processing.

To help enterprises grow, authorities have introduced favorable policies related to the development of air freight.

Through the efficient international air logistics system and port clearance environment, freight routes have driven the expansion of the import volume of seafood and fruits from South America, further expanding food options for Xiamen residents.

According to statistics, since the openness of the route in February, there have been over a hundred inbound and outbound flights, with more than 8,000 tons of cargo shipped and approximately $400 million worth of goods traded. This has made it the leading intercontinental cargo route in Xiamen airport this year with a breakthrough of 8,000 tons of cargo.
