Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, was recently recognized as one of the pilot cities for the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Finance.

So far, Taiyuan has seen 15,751 5G base stations installed, won the title of national gigabit city, and realized the comprehensive coverage of 5G networks and gigabit fiber-optic connections.

Ten enterprises in the city have launched their industrial internet identification and analysis nodes, enabling applications such as product coding, quality tracing, and supply chain management. Typical applications, such as 5G remote excavators and 5G smart factories, have been implemented to facilitate local high-quality industrial development.

The integration of next-generation information technology and manufacturing has also been accelerating. Taiyuan has cultivated 110 enterprises accredited with the national management system certification for the integration of industrialization and informatization. There are 24 national industrial internet and big data industry pilot demonstration sites, as well as eight national and 38 provincial intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration sites.

The city will focus on the digital transformation of SMEs in professional characteristic towns, encourage increased SME research and development investment, and accelerate the integration and application of 5G in various fields, as well as provide comprehensive professional services for SMEs.
