Wuxi and Taizhou, both located in East China's Jiangsu province, agreed to accelerate the development of the Jiangyin-Jingjiang Industrial Park on Sept 12.

The high-tech park was founded in 1992 to promote the integrated development of the two cities across the Yangtze River.

The industrial park, which is one of China's 115 national technology parks, has played a key role in many major projects, including the building of the world's largest container ship and the nation's most advanced high-speed railway cable.

Du Xiaogang, secretary of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, and Zhu Lifan, secretary of the CPC Taizhou Municipal Committee, attended the signing ceremony.

Du pointed out that the Jiangyin-Jingjiang Industrial Park has since its establishment seen tremendous growth in terms of economic scale, industrial strength, and integrated development.

He said that this agreement will promote the development of the Yangtze River delta city cluster represented by Wuxi and Taizhou, and the establishment of a cross-river integration development pilot area centered around the two cities.

Zhu said at the ceremony that the Jiangyin-Jingjiang Industrial Park has not only explored a new type of win-win regional cooperation but also driven the progressive deepening of the province's regional coordination and linkage.

The park has also accumulated valuable experience in industrial development, talent exchange, and social governance, he added.

The Jiangyin-Jingjiang Industrial Park is the first cross-region development zone in the country.
