Global Investment Dialogue boosts intl cooperation

The Global Investment Dialogue: The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Investment Promotion 4.0 was held during the 23rd China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), which took place from Sept 9 to 11 in the coastal city of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province.

The Global Investment Dialogue, which was sponsored by the UNIDO ITP Network, was attended by representatives of domestic and foreign digital industries, global leading companies in financial investment and scientific and technological innovation, and served as a platform for boosting global investment and cooperation.

Du Jing, an official from the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), said at the event that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the utilization of foreign capital. This year, the MOC has organized the "Investing in China" series of events for the first time, with the theme of creating an open and prosperous future through investment in China.

Du added that the as the global economy is dealing with a sluggish recovery and cross-border investment has been lackluster, China has intensified efforts to boost its foreign investment inflow.

In 2020, the South China Regional Cooperation Center of the UNIDO ITPO Beijing was launched in Xiamen. Over the past years, the center has actively supported the construction of the Xiamen BRICS Innovation Base, and participated in various activities of the CIFIT. Currently, the center has established a close and fruitful cooperative relationship with Xiamen, according to Zhuang Rongliang, vice-mayor of Xiamen.

Zhuang added that the Fourth Industrial Revolution is changing the world, and information technologies such as 5G, blockchain, and quantum computing is evolving rapidly. Xiamen is seizing the opportunity brought by the development of the innovation center of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution to embrace the opportunities of the digital era, and build a global industrial supply chain system that is safe, stable, efficient, open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial.
