New-energy driven ships made by Wuxi shipbuilders are expected to set sail from Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province for Hangzhou, the host city of the upcoming 19th Asian Games, in two days.

The five Wuxi-made eco-friendly ships are called Xin Huang Long, Jiang Cui, Jiang Wei, Jiang Lu, and Jiang Xue. They will carry tourists from home and abroad to view the landscape of Hangzhou as well as the scenic Grand Canal, adding luster to the low-carbon environmentally friendly Games.

These ships adopt a hybrid power system. In pure electric mode, they are comfortable and silent with zero-emissions while in diesel power mode they have a long range.

Hangzhou elements can be found everywhere in the New Huang Long ship, whose appearance is designed after the culture of the Hangzhou Xiling Seal Society. The ship is also decorated with the image of Hangzhou silk and ancient landscape paintings.

The Hangzhou Asian Games will open on Sept 23 and close on Oct 8 with 12,417 athletes and 4,975 officials from 45 countries and regions to participate.
