New sports venue opens in Hongqiao CBD

The Hongqiao Sports Park in the eastern part of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District (East Hongqiao) recently opened to the public. 

The park is a sporting area featuring a green environment and focusing on culture, leisure, fitness and business, providing a great service for corporate employees and surrounding residents.

It provides comprehensive one-stop services, which is expected to attract visitors from nearby and afar. To attract more youngsters, the park has even created an aerospace-themed sports space meant to promote aerospace science.

The underground area of the sports park has venues for basketball, badminton, swimming, skateboarding, fencing, and squash, a comprehensive physical training center, and a health center. Each venue is staffed with national sports coaches.

In order to better serve the fitness needs of corporate white-collar workers in the surrounding area, local authorities are working to establish 10 corporate sports clubs, including Bosch, HKUST Xunfei, United Imaging, Ctrip, Buy Quickly, Kingboard, Giti Tire, Chunqiu and Phoenix. Representatives of each club serve as the principals of basketball, football, badminton, cycling, table tennis, swimming, e-sports, skateboarding, kendo, and squash.

A Red Cross service station has also been established at the park to ensure safety.
