Xi'an intl entrepreneurship competition semi-finals take place

The 2023 Qinchuangyuan Xi'an International Entrepreneurship Competition concluded its semi-finals on Aug 26 in Xixian New Area, a national development zone co-built by Xi'an and Xianyang in Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

More than 300 semi-finalist projects took turns presenting on stage, showcasing their innovation, and demonstrating their paths toward commercialization to the expert judges.

As a result, 130 outstanding projects emerged from the semi-finals and secured a spot in the finals.

These projects included 50 in the growth category (23 in the field of information technology and artificial intelligence, 20 in high-end equipment manufacturing and new materials, and seven in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals) and 80 in the start-up category (31 in the field of information technology and artificial intelligence, 33 in high-end equipment manufacturing and new materials, and 16 in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals).

During the semi-finals, the competition organizing committee invited representatives from the Xixian New Area and investment and financing institutions to explain policies for the participating contestants.

"The competition has attracted participants from more countries and provinces than previous editions. The participating projects generally focus on the new economy and technologies, emphasizing technological innovation and broad application areas with tremendous market potential," said one of the expert judges.

According to the event schedule, the grand finals will be held in mid-October. The organizing committee will also introduce a reward policy and detailed implementation rules before the competition and further conduct specialized training on topics such as equity structure design.
