Two Song Dynasty (960-1279) tombs were found in Linyi county, Yuncheng city, Shanxi province, in 2016. A recent report unveils the archaeological excavation findings. Both tombs are well-preserved. Clear dating evidence, “Xining Year Eight”, meaning the eighth year of the Xining reign during the Northern Song Dynasty (1075), was discovered. Abundant brick carvings and colored paintings in the tombs portray scenes of women opening doors and playing instruments, local operas, patterns of flowers, poems, as well as verdict. They represent important discoveries for research on folk culture during that time.
