Quzhou's foreign trade up 21.9% in H1

Quzhou's imports and exports exceeded 33 billion yuan ($4.62 billion) in the first half of 2023, a year-on-year increase of 21.9 percent, according to Quzhou Customs.

Exports were valued at 20.57 billion yuan, up 11 percent, while imports reached 12.44 billion yuan, a surge of 45.6 percent.

The city's imports and exports to ASEAN amounted to 8.41 billion yuan, a whopping increase of 91.1 percent and accounting for 25.5 percent of the city's total. Imports and exports to South Korea, the European Union, and Brazil totaled 4.03 billion yuan, 3.57 billion yuan, and 3.13 billion yuan, up 19.6 percent, 4.7 percent, and 133.4 percent, respectively.

In addition, the city's imports and exports to Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 14.18 billion yuan and 13.45 billion yuan, up 47.9 percent and 68.1 percent, respectively.

Private enterprises have also contributed to the city's foreign trade.

During this period, the imports and exports of the city's private enterprises reached 26.41 billion yuan, up 21 percent and accounting for 80 percent of the city's total. Exports were valued at 15.5 billion yuan, an uptick of 9 percent, while imports were valued at 10.91 billion yuan, a leap of 43.6 percent.
