Sanya's tourism skyrockets in H1

Sanya received 13.27 million overnight tourists in the first half of 2023, marking a 67.44 percent increase compared to the previous year, the Sanya municipal bureau of tourism, culture, radio, television and sports released on July 18.

Among them, the city received 7.5 million overnight tourists during the first quarter, while receiving about 5.8 million overnight tourists during the second quarter.

During the first half of 2023, Sanya's overnight tourism generated a total revenue of 47.53 billion yuan ($6.37 billion), representing an 80.5 percent increase year-on-year.

Of this amount, domestic overnight tourism revenue reached 47.28 billion yuan, marking an 80.54 percent increase, while revenue from foreign exchange overnight tourism amounted to $35.58 million, growing by 59.62 percent compared to the same period last year.

Looking at it quarterly, the first quarter saw a total overnight tourism revenue of 28.19 billion yuan, while the second quarter generated 19.35 billion yuan.
