Ailing village in Shaobo town, Jiangdu district, Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has been shortlisted as a provincial characteristic idyllic village, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development announced on July 17.

Seventy-two villages in the province made the list.

The annual output of water chestnut is 150,000 kilograms, generating a value of 2.4 million yuan ($334,143.26). and the crop was also recognized as a national geographical indication product.

Yangzhou is currently home to 47 such villages.
