The energy conservation and environmental protection industry is one of the eight strategic emerging industries in Anhui province, and in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone it’s a leader and at the forefront of the city.

The zone is listed as the core area and demonstration zone for the development of the energy conservation and environmental protection industry in Hefei in the <2014-2020 Hefei energy conservation and environmental protection industry development plan>. It has preferential policies in project layout, soil condition indicators and tax revenue.

By the end of 2017, 30 energy conservation and environmental protection companies had settled in the zone, with a registered capital of 750 million yuan ($ 109.6 million) and a building area of 25,598 square meters. There are more than 70 energy conservation and environmental protection companies in the zone at present, covering a number of industries such as protection engineering, governance, consulting services, and equipment manufacturing and comprehensive resource utilization.

The zone is home to environmental companies such as Anhui Guozhen Environmental Protection & Technology Joint Stock Co Ltd, high-tech environmental companies such as Hefei Leaf Biotech Co Ltd and Hefei Debo Bioenergy Science & Technology Co Ltd.
