Automobile and new energy vehicle industry

Hefei in recent years has gradually become an important production base for automobiles and their parts in China, with an annual output of 1.2 million. Conscientiously implementing the city’s regulation for the development of the automobile industry, the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone strives to develop the automobile industry as its economic pillar.

The industry is already one of the pillars of Hefei’s economy, producing trucks, coaches, multi-purpose vehicles, and microcars and normal-sized cars. Hefei makes most types of commercial vehicles and has strong market competitiveness and export prospects.

Hefei produced 834,000 vehicles in 2016, an increase of 30.8 percent, including 24,700 new energy vehicles. The output value of the automobile industry in 2016 reached 105.8 billion yuan, making the industry the fourth “100 billion industry” of the city. The city has 11 automobile production companies above a designed size and more than 250 auto parts manufacturers; together they can produce more than 30 series and 499 kinds of vehicles.

The automobile industry is also one of the six leading components of the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone. The zone has formed an automobile and auto parts production base including 20 companies above a designed size with Chang’an Automobile Company Limited and Continental Corporation as leading enterprises.
