China squid industry conference held in Zhoushan

The 2023 China (Zhoushan) Squid Industry Conference was held in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province on July 6.

The conference aimed to promote the high-quality development of China's squid industry with the theme of "empowering innovation, aggregating strength, and seeking development".

Liu Xinzong, director of the Fishery Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs pointed out that Zhoushan is the earliest region in China to develop distant water squid fishing industry, and expressed hoped that all parties attending the conference can form a "squid industry community with a common destiny" to plan for the sustainable and healthy development of the global squid fishing industry and create a better future for the industry.

Zhoushan Mayor Xu Renbiao said that Zhoushan has been steadfast in developing the marine economy and actively promoting the "going out" and "strengthening" of the distant water fishery industry for many years, and strive to become a model for the concentrated, open, and innovative development of the distant water fishery industry in China.

The "2022 China Distant Water Squid Fishing Industry Development Report" was officially released at the conference, marking the first time that China has released a report on the development of the distant water squid fishing industry.

The Zhoushan government signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the production, education, and research of the distant water fishery industry with Shanghai Ocean University, and the Zhejiang Zhoushan Squid Technology Small Institute.

Eight companies, including Ocean Family (Zhejiang) Co and Zhoushan Ningtai Distant Water Fishery Co were honored.
