Test trains traveled at a speed of 385 kilometers per hour on the Shanghai-Nanjing Riverside High-speed Railway on July 3, according to the China Railway Shanghai Group.

The railway is expected to meet the operation requirement in September.

The Shanghai-Nanjing Riverside High-speed Railway spans 279 km along the southern bank of the Yangtze River, and has a designed speed of 350 km/h. It starts at Nanjing South Station and stops at Jurong, Jintan, Wujin, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, Changshu, and Taicang, before being connected to the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway.

The opening of the railway would mean the first time districts and county-level cities like Jintan, Wujin and Jiangyin have access to high-speed trains.
