Located in the eastern part of Hulin city, Heilongjiang province, Zhenbaodao Wetland National Nature Reserve is situated in a concentrated area of the marsh wetlands in the Sanjiang Plain. It was listed as a Wetland of International Importance (Ramsar Site) in 2011.

The total area of the reserve is 44,364 hectares, with wetland covering 29,275 hectares, accounting for 66 percent of the total area. Each year, tens of thousands of waterbirds inhabit and breed in this area. The peak migration period is spring, with over 100,000 passing migratory birds reported.
