The Huize Nianhu Wetlands is nestled within the Yunnan Huize Black-necked Crane National Nature Reserve in Yunnan province, covering an area of 2,260.75 hectares.

The area serves as an important wintering and stopover site for migratory birds along the East Asian-Australasian and Central Asian flyways.

It also serves as a designated wintering ground for the black-necked cranes, a highland crane species, on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. Each year, more than 20,000 waterbirds migrate to the area to spend the winter and rest.

In 2022, it was listed as a Wetland of International Importance (Ramsar Site).
