Hangzhou welcomed 2.44 million out-of-town visitors during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 22 to 24, representing a 25.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year and 15.5 percent more than in 2019.

Various parts of the city watched dragon boat races during the holiday, such as the long-awaited return of the Xixi Wetland Dragon Boat Race after a three-year hiatus, along with the appearances of Asian Games' mascots celebrating the festive occasion with residents and visitors.

The lively dragon boat races showcased the charm of traditional culture, innovative tourism scenes, and a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, bringing numerous surprises and a sense of vitality to the traditional festival.

Statistics show that Hangzhou organized more than 340 cultural events during the three-day holiday, attracting over 1.6 million participants. The Hangzhou Amazing Night in particular, a consumption festival that has been being held for years, invited visitors for immersive explorations of cultural elements of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), which involved literature, paintings, food, clothing, porcelain, musical instruments, light art, and performances.

The 19th China International Cartoon and Animation Festival, which attracted some 76,000 on-site visitors during the holiday, exposed visitors to a world of cartoons and animation by hosting activities such as the China Cosplay Super Carnival, the National Animation Awards Ceremony "Golden Monkey Awards," and the China National Style Brand Ceremony.
