Zhoushan welcomes 979,000 tourists during Dragon Boat Festival holiday

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province received 979,000 tourists during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday which lasted from June 22 to 24, a year-on-year increase of 95.9 percent, according to official statistics.

The city's 24 3A or above scenic spots welcomed 165,000 tourists during the holiday, and eight major tourism islands including Dongji Island and Taohua Island received about 160,000 visitors, an uptick of 138.8 percent year-on-year.

A total of 175,000 tourists took a trip to Putuo Mountain and Zhujiajian scenic areas during the holiday, and the Putuo Mountain scenic attraction welcomed 97,000 tourists, up 103 percent year-on-year.

The average occupancy rate of the city's 146 hotels and homestays was 54.27 percent, and 780 tour groups consisting of 10,655 tourists traveled to Zhoushan over the three-day break.

The accumulated numbers of vehicles transiting the Zhoushan Cross-sea Bridge and the Zhujiajian Cross-sea Bridge were 127,000 and 164,000 respectively during the period.

Nearly 100 cultural and tourism activities such as concerts, hanfu shows and folk art performances were held during the holiday.
