The Xiushan Mud Themed Park on Xiushan Island in Daishan county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, reopened to the public on June 22 after a year-long renovation and upgrading.
The upgraded park is equipped with facilities for water recreation in addition to its various amenities themed on sea mud. It is China's first park that offers such activities.
Visitors can catch ducks, take part in races and play tug-of-war on mud.
The park is also equipped with facilities for fishing, mud therapy and collecting seashells.
Dubbed "Shangri-la on the sea", Xiushan Island, which is roughly the same size as Macao, is home to thousands of shallows.
Authorities will tap into its mud resources to develop more tourism products, roll out study tour services and hold more mud-themed activities.
