Athletes hailing from Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang Province, are currently preparing for the upcoming 19th Asian Games, which marked its 100-day countdown on June 15.

More than 20 athletes from the city specializing in over 10 different sports, including rock climbing, swimming, shooting, gymnastics, and track and field, have been selected for national training teams for the Games.

While certain events for the Asian Games are still in the process of selecting their contenders, an official at the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Sports noted that the final list of athletes from the city who will comprise the Chinese delegation for the Games is yet to be decided.

Nonetheless, many of the city's athletes who have recently shone in events at the national level or higher are expected to secure spots in the Asian Games.

Swimmers Wang Shun and Yu Yiting, for instance, both garnered four gold medals at the 2023 National Synchronized Swimming Championships held in Hangzhou in May.

Feng Sixuan, another athlete from Ningbo, bagged two gold medals in the women's 25m pistol category at the 2023 International Shooting Sport Federation's Rifle/Pistol World Cup this year, making it highly likely that she will represent China at the Asian Games.

Likewise, Wang Chang, a badminton player from Ningbo, and his partner Liang Weikeng, clinched second place in the men's doubles final of the Singapore Open which ended on June 11. Their world ranking has since risen to No 2.
