Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group Co Ltd, a major shipbuilder – based in Jingjiang city in East China's Jiangsu province – is really on the move these days.

Its orderbook is vigorously expanding for it to produce a wide range of vessel classes including liquid ethylene gas or LEG carriers, liquified petroleum gas or LPG carriers, liquified natural gas or LNG tankers and medium range or MR petroleum product tankers, among others.

This is in addition to a recent bulk carrier order with Japanese shipping company Lepta Shipping, worth $13.08 billion – contributing to the company's existing 159 vessel orderbook, as of mid-June.

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group has completed about 49 percent of this year's target, delivering a total of 28 vessels to date – and it's set to deliver 57 vessels in the full year.

On May 31, the company delivered a container carrying vessel called Maersk Glacier with a capacity of 3,500 twenty-foot equivalent units or TEUs – the standard single container size – to Tokyo-based Lepta Shipping Co Ltd.

The formidable ship has a total length of 200 meters, a width of 36.4 meters and a depth of 20.6 meters. The vessel started construction in July 2022 and is now registered with the ABS classification society. Three of the 10 vessels in this series have already been delivered.

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group is said to have undertaken many initiatives to expand its market and secure fresh orders, with a strong focus on diverse vessel types and capacity expansion.

The group is now scheduled to operate at full capacity until early 2027, underscoring the thriving shipbuilding industry in Jingjiang.
