According to China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp Ltd, a State contractor that jointly shoulders the building of the project, the 40.9-kilometer highway — built with an investment of 5.74 billion yuan ($8.67 billion) — is a two-way four-lane expressway with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour. Apart from facilitating urban vehicle trips in Fuzhou, the expressway aims to serve the city's development in the long run by playing a key role in linking with the Yangtze River Delta city cluster. CR24, a unit of China Railway Construction Corp, said on Tuesday that with a major bridge project on the expressway recently achieving full connection on the left side, its construction team is confident about accomplishing the highway project on time by October next year.
