The Jiangyan district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – is on a roll, having attracted four new investment projects worth $160 million from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative between January and May.

Two are from Thailand, one is from Singapore and one from Vietnam. The industries involved include auto parts and accessories, as well as new materials.

The Belt and Road Initiative aims to connect Asia, Africa and Europe through land and maritime networks that are designed to improve regional integration, increase international trade and stimulate economic growth.

The bureau of commerce in Jiangyan district is reported to have played a key role in promoting policies, optimizing services and strengthening cooperation among relevant municipal departments to attract these investment projects.

The bureau coordinated with departments to provide full services for enterprises regarding fund remittances, project approvals and APEC Business Travel Cards processing.

Moving forwards, plans are in motion for the bureau to focus on innovating service initiatives, enhance the level of overseas investment facilitation and help international projects to settle in the district and quickly become operational.

This is expected to create a positive demonstration effect, providing better opportunities for foreign trade businesses in the region to seek overseas opportunities.
