The number of China-Europe freight trains departing from Wuhan, Hubei province, has increased significantly in the first five months of this year, with 534 train trips carrying 43,854 TEUs of cargo, representing a year-on-year increase of 149.53 percent and 148.55 percent, respectively.

In May, 116 trains were dispatched, carrying 9,568 TEUs of cargo, an increase of about 63 percent over the same period last year.

Both cumulative and monthly shipment volumes have reached new highs in recent years.

Wuhan Asia-Europe Logistics Co has been meeting the demand of the provincial and municipal governments and the Hubei Port Group to steadily improve the development of China-Europe freight trains in Wuhan.

In May, a new grain train service route connecting Wuhan with Uralsk, Kazakhstan, was launched, providing a more stable and efficient logistics channel for grain shipments between Hubei province and Central Asian countries.

Up to now, the China-Europe trains in Wuhan have had a total of 47 international logistics channels to 40 countries and 111 cities in Asia and Europe.

In May, 15 trains carrying 1,860 TEUs of cargo were transported via China-Europe freight trains in Wuhan to domestic cities via Yangluo Port, far exceeding the annual shipment volume of the previous year's rail-water intermodal transportation.

In international trade, the variety of goods has become increasingly diverse, with new products such as milk from Belarus, noodles and flour from Russia, coffee from Vietnam, coconut water from Thailand and beer from Turkiye.
