World New Energy and New Materials Conference to be held in Ordos

The 2023 World New Energy and New Materials Conference will be held in Ordos city, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, from June 28 to 29, as announced during a press conference on Wednesday.

Chen Zheng, deputy director of the regional energy bureau, introduced that the conference will feature exhibitions on new energy and new materials, as well as forums on new energy and coal-based new materials, along with two competitions.

Su Cuifang, deputy mayor of Ordos city, said that the preparations for the event are progressing smoothly.

She said that the forum has garnered significant attention from both domestic and international academic circles, authoritative institutions and the industry professionals. More than 10 leaders from international energy organizations, academicians, and leading entrepreneurs will attend the conference.

According to the press conference, Ordos sold 840 million tons of coal and 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2022, and generated 140 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, making it the largest energy production and export city in the country.

Ordos has already launched the construction of an innovation demonstration zone as part of the national sustainable development agenda. It will support the upgrade and development of its new energy and new materials industries.
