A team of officials led by Wang Qingwei, a senior member of the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore, paid a visit to Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, on May 24.

The two sides planned to deepen collaborations on the digital economy to deliver more positive results for the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Project on Strategic Connectivity.

Qin Shubin, deputy director of the new area's administrative committee, said that the digital economy had become a powerful growth engine for the new round of technology and the industrial revolution. Liangjiang will strengthen its partnership with Singapore in the China-Singapore (Chongqing) International Data Channel (IDC), digital trade, and other areas.

Since opening the doors of the IDC in 2019, nearly 50 enterprises have collaborated on telemedicine, distance education, and smart tourism.

Additionally, Liangjiang is working towards improving the connection between Guoyuan Port and Singapore Port, with a focus on streamlining rail-sea intermodal transportation. In collaboration with Singapore, the new area is actively pursuing the development and implementation of a digital bill of lading system to improve efficiency and accuracy in the logistics process.

As a core zone to implement the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Project on Strategic Connectivity, Liangjiang has inked 45 projects under the framework worth $10.98 billion.
