Yangzhou in East China's Jiangsu province marked the 13th China Tourism Day as the host of Jiangsu provincial celebrations of the event on May 19.
Three hundred and sixty favorable measures and 317 activities aimed at boosting the province's tourism sector were unveiled at the opening ceremony.
A series of promotional events, including the establishment of the online Jiangsu culture and tourism flagship store, the kickoff ceremony of a TV program focused on exploring tips for touring must-visit towns, and the release of boutique routes to escape the summer heat, were held during the session.
In addition, 10 boutique routes revolving around drama performances were rolled out as part of efforts to advance the in-depth integration of culture and tourism.
Authorities also proposed an initiative to boost civilized, green and smart travel, and explained travel safety regulations during the event.
China Tourism Day was launched by the State Council, China's Cabinet, in 2011. The date was chosen to commemorate the day when Chinese explorer and geologist Xu Xiake (1587-1641) started his 30-year journey around China.
This year's theme was "Beautiful China, Happy Journey", and Heshun Ancient Town in Tengchong, Yunnan province, was the lead venue for nationwide celebrations.
