Pudong hosts promotion conference

The International Consumer Center Global Promotion Conference of Pudong New Area was held at the Shanghai Tower on April 26. The event presented the three-year action plan for the construction of an international consumer center, introduced the "4+6+N" consumption space guide map, and signed key commercial and tourism project contracts.

Hang Yingwei, head of Pudong New Area, said that the area will create trendsetting, energetic and international consumer spaces and consumption landmarks, as well as standardize global and domestic consumption.

The highlighted "4+6+N" consumption space guide map includes four international-level consumer circles and 6 market-level consumer circles to create new consumption landmarks. The signed projects from the conference included Lujiazui Group's cooperation with the Hilton Group on the Bund Waldorf Astoria Hotel project, and Shanghai Pudong Development (Group) Co's K11 Select project with K11 Group.

In addition, the immersive theater performance,Mingzhu Legend, which was co-produced by Oriental Pearl Group and Maoyan Entertainment, was announced to debut in Pudong at the event. South Korean fashion brand Mardi Mercredi, Japanese fashion brand Bedwin and The Heartbreakers, and the Japanese conveyor belt sushi brand Zan Sushi are also scheduled to open their first stores in Pudong.

Pudong's consumption market boasted a total retail sales volume of 99.1 billion yuan ($14.36 billion) in the first quarter of this year, marking a year-on-year increase of 14.5 percent, 9.3 percentage points higher than the city's average.
