Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – is ramping up its expansion of shared parks and its green coverage rate, according to a shared park list issued by the Jiangsu Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on April 7.

The list revealed that Taizhou opened 90 shared parks in recent years –  of which 27 were established within the prefecture-level city itself, five in Xinghua, 14 in Jingjiang and 44 in Taixing – the county-level cities it administers.

Moreover, Taizhou announced a new list of 122 pilot areas for green land in February, covering an area of 550,000 square meters. The initiative is expected to meet the needs of residents to appreciate nature, enjoy leisure time and to exercise.

According to the list, shared urban green space consists of comprehensive and community parks, lawn areas, tourism parks and other green land.

Moving forwards, plans are for Taizhou to set itself the goal of establishing systems for the management and protection of green spaces and improving convenient service facilities.
