WND achieves dynamic development in 2022

The Wuxi National Hi-tech District (WND) in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province made steady progress in its social and economic development in 2022, according to a report released on March 28.

The GDP of WND grew 3.4 percent year-on-year in 2022, reaching 243.05 billion yuan ($35.27 billion).

The added value of the district's primary, secondary, and tertiary industries increased 3.3 percent, 5.4 percent, and 0.2 percent, respectively.

The gross output of WND's agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishing sectors was 106 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.9 percent.

The total output value of industries above designated size in the district reached 617.30 billion yuan, up 10.2 percent compared to 2021.

Fixed asset investment in WND last year was valued at 73.55 billion yuan, a 1.7 percent increase from the previous year. One hundred and fifty new projects that have more than 100 million yuan in investments were approved in 2022.

The foreign trade of WND totaled $58.26 billion in 2022, up 2.4 percent year-on-year. The actual utilization of foreign investment in the WND reached $1.35 billion, 46.8 percent of which came from high-tech industries.

The per capita disposable income of WND residents was 71,974 yuan, a 4.2 percent year-on-year increase. The total retail sales of social consumer goods in the district grew 1.2 percent year-on-year to 41.95 billion yuan in 2022.

By the end of 2022, WND was home to 68 kindergartens, 38 primary and middle schools, three public high schools, three international schools, and one special education school. It also had 256 medical institutions, including six general hospitals and eight community healthcare centers.
