The Lin-gang Special Area – located in East China's Shanghai – continues to power ahead, after having racked up a slew of major achievements during the course of the last three years, according to one of its top executives.

Wu Xiaohua, deputy director of the Lin-gang Special Area Administration, said the area had signed up a total of 430 projects during the period, with a high proportion of them involving foreign investment.

He told a Shanghai municipal government news briefing on April 3, that Lin-gang placed a great deal of emphasis on increasing the levels of scientific innovation – especially involving such measures as promoting science infrastructural development, recognizing 15 science and technology platforms and fostering 14 scientific enterprise incubators, as well as bolstering six associations for industrial innovation.

Issuing attractive policies for more talent to settle in Lin-gang is another item that is top of the agenda for the area. These efforts have already paid significant dividends and as a result, it's understood that the cumulative number of talent settling there has reached 43,700, including a wealth of international first-rate scientists.

The latest figures indicated that the investment in fixed assets and industrial output value of industries above a designated size both soared during the  period, by over 30 percent each year.

By the end of 2025, the output value of Lin-gang's cutting-edge industries above a designated size is expected to rise to 500 billion yuan ($72.72 billion).
