Heilongjiang airport passenger flows, cargo take off in Q1

The airports in Heilongjiang – China's northernmost province, which is partly bordered by Russia – saw their passenger flows take off in the first quarter of the year, according to the latest statistics.

In Q1, the airports under the jurisdiction of the Heilongjiang Airport Management Group handled 45,700 flights and reported a passenger flow of 5.83 million people, experiencing year-on-year increases of 37.6 percent and 64.1 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the airports handled cargo and mail throughput of 29,600 metric tons, an increase of 10 percent compared with the same period of last year.

Of that, Harbin Taiping International Airport handled 35,100 flights and recorded a passenger flow of 4.77 million people from January to March, up 95.6 percent and 89.1 percent, respectively, on the same period in 2019.

Its cargo and mail throughput in the first quarter reached 28,400 tons, which was 92.4 percent of that in 2019.

In the wake of the implementation of the summer flight schedule, a total of 46 airlines operated flights in Heilongjiang - putting on more than 270 international and domestic flight routes, with over 100 flight destinations.
