Innovation centers, zones fuel industrial development

The city of Shanghai in East China recently launched a raft of industrial centers and zones, which are expected to boost innovation and future industrial development there.

During the recent Shanghai Industrial Technology Innovation Conference, three future industrial pioneering zones in Zhangjiang, Lin-gang Special Area and Grand neoBay in Minhang district were inaugurated.

The zones are projected to play pioneering and leading roles in systems innovations, the supply of policies, the commercialization of developments and applications demonstrations.

In Zhangjiang, businesses there will focus on healthcare, computer chips, intelligent devices and new energy, with a target output worth 200 billion yuan ($29.05 billion) in 2030. What's more, Lin-gang and Grand neoBay will each contribute about 100 billion yuan in output by 2030, according to the city's blueprint.
