Suzhou New District in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, recently held a meeting in Tokyo, Japan to celebrate the number of Japanese-funded enterprises in SND exceeding 700.

Song Yaoming, minister of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese embassy in Japan, said at the meeting that he hopes more Japanese entrepreneurs and investors will come to China, especially SND, to seek cooperation with Chinese enterprises.

Tang Xiaodong, vice-mayor of Suzhou, noted that Japan is an important source of investment and trading partner of Suzhou and that the city will create the best possible business environment and offer top-notch services to Japanese investors.

Mao Wei, secretary of the Party working committee of SND, also said that SND will continue bringing in high-end resources and offer efficient services to local businesses.

The meeting also saw the signing of agreements for 15 projects, including seven projects to build company headquarters.

The first Japanese-funded company was established in SND in 1993, and the district is now home to over 700 Japanese-invested businesses, accounting for one third of the total in Suzhou. These businesses, including 18 Fortune Global 500 companies, have invested over $20 billion in SND.
