The 2023 OVC artificial intelligence (AI) industry ecosystem conference (for intelligent connected vehicles (ICV)) took place in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone, also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC, on March 23.

Over 30 guests from governments, enterprises and research institutions were invited to the event, delivering keynote speeches on AI research in automotive hardware and software, high-level autonomous driving, and vehicle-cloud integration.

At the opening ceremony, Li Deren, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave a lecture themed on how "surveying and mapping remote sensing technology empowers smart driving".

The 2022 Wuhan AI Industry Development Evaluation Report was also released during the event, implying Wuhan's competency in the AI industry through its economic scale, sci-tech innovation, leading enterprise cultivation, and policy ecosystem.

In recent years, the valley has successfully set up the Wuhan AI Research Institute, the Wuhan AI research institution of Peking University, China's first AI computing center, as well as the Wuhan Supercomputing Center.

The industrial scale of the city's AI sector saw an increase of 33.3 percent over 2021, and the number of AI-related enterprises based in the valley accounted for 66 percent of Wuhan's total.
