HTWO Guangzhou in Huangpu district is set to use hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity and water, having recently completed the construction of its new factory.

Located in Huangpu district, HTWO Guangzhou is Hyundai Motor Group's first overseas R&D, production, and sales base for hydrogen fuel cell systems. It also ranks as China's first large-scale hydrogen fuel cell system production factory.

Scheduled for completion and operation in April, the project covers an area of 202,000 square meters, with total investment expected to reach 8.5 billion yuan ($1.2 billion).

The factory is designed as a comprehensive base, including a fuel cell electrode stack building, system assembly building, technology research building, and an innovation center. Having settled in the area in January 2021, the project is now entering the trial production phase.

Once operational, HTWO Guangzhou will provide world-leading hydrogen fuel cell systems for vehicles, ships, rail transportation, and power generation throughout China.

The project aims to establish partnerships with companies in various sectors such as hydrogen production, transportation and storage, hydrogen supply, core components, vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicle operations, and hydrogen fuel cell system applications. These collaborations will help promote the construction and development of China's hydrogen energy industry chain, ultimately reducing the cost of promoting and applying hydrogen energy across the entire industrial chain.
