The General Administration of Customs recently gave its approval to the designated supervision site in Guoyuan port for direct grain importation, making it the first port in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality to be able to do so.

Guoyuan port is located in Liangjiang New Area.

The site includes functional areas for berthing and freight unloading, grain checking platforms, special warehouses for imported grain, and qualified grain handling. There are five mobile grain checking platforms on site, and the warehouses occupy an area of 2,385 square meters, with the annual grain handling capacity of 100,000 metric tons.

After put into use, the site will further beef up the customs clearance efficiency of related companies, and reduce the cost of logistics and storage for imported goods. The site will also rely on Chongqing's international transport channels and multimodal transit system, which covers rail, water, air, and road transportation.

The approval of the site is also said to meet the urgent needs from Chongqing-based oil and grain processing traders as well as its fish breeding operators that utilize imported crops.
