The Optics Valley-Huanggang Sci-tech Industrial Park, considered as the ninth industrial park in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), was unveiled on March 9 in Huanggang.
The inauguration of the park demonstrated the OVC's resolution to implement the Wuhan-Ezhou-Huangshi-Huanggang integration development initiative.
The Huanggang and OVC governments also signed a joint cooperation memorandum for the new industrial park on the same day.
According to local news reports, the park will mainly undertake optoelectronics, smart equipment manufacturing, and medical equipment manufacturing from the valley, and now boasts over 10 sci-tech projects, the majority of which have conducted R&D in the valley.
The OVC and Huanggang have established an off-shore sci-tech innovation center, and have opened a cross-regional government service window to further cooperation efforts.
Zhang Yongqiang, director of the valley's administrative committee, said that the two sides share a long-standing partnership. In order to create a new cross-regional cooperation and interaction landscape, the OVC is willing to collaborate with Huanggang and is dedicated to the development of the Wuhan metropolitan area.
The signing ceremony also marked the beginning of talent exchanges, capital sharing, and program resource sharing between the two sides.
