The National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV) (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) recently issued its annual report for 2022.

According to the report, the zone is the first in China to apply the common application system in internet of vehicle commercialization and the first to adopt 5G in roadside fiber-free optical communications on a large scale.

The report also summarized data and facts about the zone in terms of policies and regulations, road opening, testing environment, vehicle supervision and management, ICV commercialization and future prospects.

The zone is the first of its kind in Central China and was unveiled in September 2019. By January this year, it had opened 522 ICV testing road sections with a total length of 751.56 kilometers.

The zone has established a full-fledged emulation testing system and boasts 10 major closed-loop testing scenarios, four lab clusters and an F2 international race track, meeting diverse demands in intelligent vehicle testing and global automobile competitions and able to provide one-stop R&D, testing and authentication services for auto manufacturers.

There were 130 ICVs in commercial operations in the zone last year.
