Harbin, the capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, recently launched 526 key projects for the current year.

The total investment of these projects reaches 379.19 billion yuan ($56.60 billion) and their 66.36-billion-yuan investment volume will be completed within the year, which is an increase of 18.5 percent compared with the same period from last year.

According to the Harbin municipal development and reform commission, the city's first batch of key projects in 2023 presents three characteristics: a large number of projects, a large investment scale, and an excellent project structure.

The number of key projects increased from 400 in 2022 to 526 this year, which clearly indicates a growth of 1.3 times that of last year's figures.

Harbin's annual investment has increased from 56 billion yuan last year to 66.36 billion yuan in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 18.5 percent.

The number of industrial projects has increased from 255 last year to 326, a year-on-year increase of 27.8 percent.

Among these projects, there are 155 strategic emerging industry projects in such fields as bioeconomy and digital economy, which indicates an increase of 4.8 percentage points year-on-year. This figure also accounts for 47.5 percent of the city's industrial projects.
