The Lijia smart government service center in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, opened to the public on Feb 27.

Equipped with integrated self-service facilities and other smart infrastructure, the center is now able to handle more than 50 types of government affairs at the sub-district level, as well as over 1,000 government affairs at district and municipal level.

The center is divided into three areas: the material reception area, the business function area, and the 24-hour smart services area. Four special guides at the center help residents to download government service applications, and assist them in online insurance registration, fee payment, pension identification, and other types of affairs.

People can get their social insurance cards, use the fingerprint authentication system, and print relevant documents by themselves at the 24-hour smart service area. They can also put their files into the smart cabinet in the center, where staff members will get them at a later time. This design has saved a large amount of time for people who previously had to wait several hours to be assisted.

On the first day of opening, a total of 133 government affairs were handled in the center. After its three-month trial operation is over, it will run around the clock.
